Archer's Nursery

I'm thrilled to finally be sharing with you the nursery my friend Shelly designed for her son Archer. She did an amazing job and it is gorgeous! Her inspiration for colors came from this room here, then she bought two wooden owls from the hospital gift shop and the owl theme was born. Over the next few weeks she searched Etsy shops for just the right wall accents and additional touches . Shelly put so much love and thought into Archer's room. I wish you all could see it in person because the colors are amazing and my pictures don't quite do it justice.

Below his name it reads... For this child I prayed and the lord answered my prayer. Samuel 1:27

The numerical canvas wall hangings were painted by a friend of her mom's. She did an awesome job.

Tea for Ava

This is a story that brought tears to my eyes and made me want to grab my babies and not let go. It is tragic and unforgettable. My heart aches for Ava's family. Read the story, buy an invitation, and have tea for Ava. We will!

Details, details - Beauty Full Collection: "Ava Rosemeyer was three and a half years old when she found her way into her parents car, the door closing behind her. Her home adjoined the property of her grandparents house, and it was natural for the children to wander, play, explore, between the two houses. While on her way home from next door, Ava, ever-curious and in search of something missing, climbed into the car, parked in the driveway. Meanwhile, both Ava's Grandpa and her Mum, Sheye, thought she was safe and well with the other, as was so often the case. It was a summer’s day in Queensland, and Ava was unable to find a way out of the car. She was discovered a short while later and rushed to hospital. Tragically, Ava passed away on the 5th February, 2007, two days after her accident"

{ From Details, details! }

Ava's family holds a special tea party around Aug. 22 to remember their little princess. They would like people from around the world to take time out in August to be glad, give thanks, and to cherish our loved ones.

You can purchase an invite for $10 to be e mailed to you and you can then print out as many as you wish. 100 % of the proceeds are being donated to Paradise Kids.

Relay for Life Gift Basket

This Saturday I am participating in my 4th American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Relay for life is a 24 hour long fundraiser where teams of people camp out at schools, fairgrounds, and parks across the country, taking turns walking around the track or path. It offers people a chance to celebrate the people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. I relay to celebrate and support my Aunt Tammy who was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma 5 years ago and continues fighting it to this day, to honor my sister in law Jill who is a cancer survivor, and to support my friend and former co - worker Rachelle who is a breast cancer survivor.

Each year I make a gift basket to be raffled off by our team. Last year I did a summer entertaining basket that included 2 tickets to the water slides.

This year I put together a Reno Aces basket complete with tickets to see the Aces in action. I found the perfect metal tub at Wal Mart. I was thrilled that the colors matched perfectly, but I really wanted it to have the Aces logo on it. After a little thought I came up with the idea to paint a white square on it and attach a clear Aces decal sticker to the square. Perfect! On the $1 aisle at Michael's I found red cow bell's which I thought would make great noise makers at the game. I added some ribbon to the top of them and painted baseball's on the front. I was very happy with how it turned out! { my apologies for the pitiful grainy pics }

Watermelon Cupcakes

Image { Project Dennler }

I'm always amazed at what fun things people do with cupcakes. These watermelon cupcakes are so perfect for summer! You can make them by simply adding approx. 8 - 10 drops of red food coloring to your favorite white or vanilla cupcake batter then add 1/4 c miniature chocolate chips. Bake as directed then frost with green frosting. Seriously easy and way cute!

Baby Shower Monday

I have decided to start something new... Baby Shower Monday. Every Monday I'm going to post about baby showers. I will show featured parties, trends, decor, invitation ideas, and whatever else catches my eye that I think might provide us with inspiration. If you or someone you know has hosted or styled a great baby shower I would LOVE to share it! You can email me at affectionfordetail@gmail.com

Today's feature is one of my favorite baby showers. It is the Alphabets & Elephants shower from Kim at Head of the Table. First off I love the yellow and gray color combo. Secondly I like that it is modern with just the right touch of baby-ness ( yes that is a word I just made up ). And, how cute is the alphabet wall art! You can check out more great parties and ultra fabulous tablescapes on Kim's blog here. She also owns a tableware rental botique in the St. Louis area also called Head of the Table. What a great job!

{Featured Party } A Nautical Birthday Party from The Celebration Shoppe

I've mentioned before that I am a fan of nautical themes, so I was naturally drawn to this little sailor party by Kim from The Celebration Shoppe. The anchor details and miniature flag bunting are my favorite. What is really great is that all of the paper goods you see here can be purchased in her shop here. She makes it easy to create you own darling little sailor party, and I'm all for making things easy these days! You can see more photos on Kim's blog.

Cupcake Kabobs

Looking for something unique and cute to make for your next gathering? How about cupcake kabobs. You can customize them to fit any occasion and add just about any sweet treat you can stick a skewer through. I made some for my sister in law's baby shower last year using miniature cupcakes with pink frosting, cream filled wafers, and miniature reece's peanut butter cups. They were yummy and adorable. Here are a few ideas for you. Enjoy!

Meet Archer

My friend Shelly and her husband Isaac were blessed with the birth of their son Archer on Monday. I hosted Shelly's baby shower in June. He is absolutely adorable. Perfectly shaped head, a touch of blonde hair, and darling little features. I was his nurse which made it extra special for me. Congratulations Thornton family! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.
